Dear students,
it is now the 111th anniversary of (World) Women’s Day!
This day originated as an initiative of socialist organizations in the period before the First World War, in the struggle for equal rights, the right to vote for women as well as the emancipation of women workers.
“Most of recorded human history is one big data gap. Based on the theory of man as hunter, the chronicles of the past have left little room for the role of women in the development of humanity, either culturally or biologically. Instead, the lives of men have been considered representative of humanity as a whole. When it comes to the lives of the other half of humanity, there is often only silence.” – Caroline Criado Prerez (2020)
In today’s medicine, it is becoming increasingly important to find therapies that areare tailored to the patient. However, only one-third of study participants in clinical trials are women. What options are there to integrate sex and gender into medical science?
